RRCA National Awards

SERC is not a member of RRCA as we don't currently hold any races but the email below was sent to us. Feel free to read if you know anyone that is in an RRCA club that you feel should be nominated for their national awards.

I know that some of you are not members of the RRCA. But you may know of
someone who is a member of the RRCA and deserves recognition. The
nomination forms can be found at http://www.rrca.org/services/awards/

The RRCA is accepting nominations for the 2008 RRCA National Grassroots
Running Awards.

Nominations will be collected for all categories, and the nominations should
be submitted to the National Office by 5:00 PM Eastern on November 1, 2008
(NOTE: the deadline for website nominations is January 1st). The period of
performance for the individual being nominated should be September 1, 2007
through August 31, 2008.

Individuals interested in serving on one of the award selection panels
should contact Jessica Sleight at office@rrca.org by September 30, 2008.

BROWNING ROSS SPIRIT OF THE RRCA AWARD
The award honors a club member who is an unsung hero.

RRCA HALL OF FAME
inducts individuals that have dedicated themselves, not only in athletic
performance but also in service, to the sport of long distance running.

RRCA SCOTT HAMILTON OUTSTANDING CLUB PRESIDENT AWARD
This award honors an outstanding RRCA Club President and is selected by the
current RRCA National President

RRCA ROAD RUNNER OF THE YEAR AWARD
is given to a male and female US runner with an outstanding record of long
distance racing performance during the year.

RRCA JERRY LITTLE EXCELLENCE IN JOURNALISM
(Three categories: Club Newsletter - 2 print categories, Electronic
Newsletter, and Club Writer)

JOURNALISTIC EXCELLENCE AWARD
is given to a professional writer who has made a notable contribution to
the literature of distance running for the year.

ROD STEELE OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER AWARD
is given to recognize the outstanding volunteer (excluding the president)
of a local club or event.

RRCA OUTSTANDING STATE REPRESENTATIVE
an opportunity to honor your state representative who fulfills their role
with ambitious enthusiasm helping to promote running and the RRCA while
assisting the local clubs with knowledge, communication and guidance.

RRCA KURT STEINER CHILDREN'S DEVELOPMENTAL AWARD
is to recognize a local club or event member who is dedicated to either
promoting children¹s running and/or coordinating an outstanding children¹s
running program or event

RRCA OUTSTANDING BEGINNING RUNNING PROGRAM AWARD (NEW IN 2009)
this award is to focus on programs that engage new or returning runners to
the sport, regardless of their gender. Women¹s only programs will continued
to be considered for this award.

RRCA ROAD RACE OF THE YEAR AWARD
to acknowledge RRCA nonprofit member races that provide safe, well designed
and enjoyable races which promote grassroots running and the mission of the
RRCA.

RRCA NATIONAL VOLUNTEER AWARD CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
Volunteers must have contributed at least 2000 hours of service over the
years. A club officer can send a nomination form listing up to 3 nominations
per club and indicate how many volunteer hours the nominee has contributed.

WEBSITE AWARD - NOMINATION PERIOD IS DECEMBER 1, 2007 - JANUARY 1, 2008
This award is to honor and recognize those who have brought technology into
their clubs as a means of communication and done so in an organized,
efficient and technological manner.
