RUNNING CLUB MAY (2012) BLAST
Holy Cow! It's May already and SERC
is racking up the miles. The Boston Inferno (marathon) is behind us along
with lots of local races and we are moving into our next big club event: The
Cleveland Marathon, Half and 10k. We
will be out in force and as always, having our traditional post party, so
whether you earn your beer running or cheering that day come on out and
celebrate. And even if you aren't at
Cleveland come on out for the post race celebration and party anyway!!
SPONSORS
SERC has partnered with a few local
businesses this year offering discounts to all dues paying members. We are very appreciative of their support of
not only SERC but the running community.

UPCOMING EVENTS
TRAINING - Where do we
run?
Our group runs are fun, sometimes
intense, and always full of camaraderie. All events below can also be found on
our Group Runs page.
Tuesday Nights (until the end of May)
Until the end of May we are meeting at
the Summit County Hike and Bike parking lot on 303 (just west of Rt. 8) 6:15
warm-up, workout begins @ 6:30. Look for
this guy (Paul Romanic) and if you don't know him -- introduce yourself!
Sunday Mornings - The Basics
- This run, which has been a SERC tradition since our founding,
is entirely on the roads and streets in Solon and joins runners with a
wide range of abilities.
- We meet at 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot of Solon Square
Shopping Center (near the Chipotle) on the Northwest corner of Route 91
(SOM Center Road) and Aurora Road.
- The running pace is typically between 6:30-9:00-minute miles,
however we do encourage ALL speeds
- We leave at 8:00 a.m. sharp.
- If you're new, get there early and introduce yourself.
- Breakfast at D&R Bagels follows.
We follow a 12-mile loop around Solon, with
plenty of options for shorter and longer distances. Most club members run the
full 12 miles and a few go 15-20+ miles. At about the 6-mile mark, the course
passes the Valley Forge Drive house of one of our club members, Dick Cyr, who
leaves water for us on his back porch. It is also possible to create a 5-mile
course by returning home on SOM Center Road heading north off Pettibone. Maps
of all loops are shown here.
Thanks for
reading! See you on the roads and trails soon!
